Shankar Das, Tabla

Shankar Das is a native of Montreal.  He has studied tabla with legendary Alla Rakha and Zakir Hussain in India almost two decades ago and has since mastered the art of percussion. Drawing on the influences of Indian classical, folk, Middle Eastern and tribal rhythms, Shankar has created his own original Eastern sound and groove. He has toured and performed at numerous festivals worldwide (Turkey, Greece, England) and has shared the stage with great performers such as Kani Karacha and Hugh Marsh. Shankar works with Ragleela since 2004 and had more than 100 concerts with Uwe Neumann since 2000.
